Sunny Boy' Controls and Data-Logging

Recording of data is best done using one of the Sunny Boy Control units to store data and allow periodic downloading of information either by direct connection to a PC or via telephone modem. Suitable for all Sunny Boy, Windy Boy & Sunny Island inverters.  Communications Data Sheet

Sunny Control Light

This is a good solution in smaller plants (up to 10 Sunny Boy inverters). Communication to the inverters is via powerline modem and to a PC or external display via RS232. Stores 200 days of daily energy production data.

Sunny Control & Sunny Control Plus

These are suitable for plants of all sizes (up to 50 Sunny Boy inverters). Communication to the inverters I(COM1) is via powerline (standard) or RS485. Communication to a PC or external display is via RS232 or RS485. RS485 is necessary for distances greater than 12m. They can also be used to switch on dedicated loads (eg. washing machine) when PV energy production exceeds pre-set values, enabling optimum on-site use of solar energy.
They store 1 year of daily energy production data.


A third serial port (COM3) can be fitted for RS232 or RS485 to allow information to be presented simultaneously on PC and external displays. Sunny Control Sunny Control Plus can be supplied with a modem option (NET piggyback interface) for either Analog, ISDN, GSM or Ethernet communication to allow remote access by PC and automatic email of performance data. An RS232 is included for a local PC or external display.


Sunny Control Plus allows other data to be monitored and has 8 analogue and 8 digital ports to enable measurement and data storage from almost any type of sensor.  Compatible with all SMA Sunny Boy,  Windy Boy and Sunny Island inverters to provide the perfect system monitors.

Sunny Control Plus Accessories

These terminal blocks enable easy and clearly understandable wiring of external inputs to the digital and analogue inputs to the Sunny Control Plus.

Includes 25-pin 0.5m long female to male connector cable for connection to the Sunny Control Plus.

Sunny WebBox

This provides system monitoring, remote diagnostics, data storage and visualization - the Sunny WebBox is the communication centre of your solar power system. It continuously monitors the system giving early detection of operational faults and logging of energy yields.  Data is stored for easy analysis and automatic transfer at pre-definable intervals. This can be use to give cost-free data and graphic presentation on the Internet.

Sunny Sensor Box

This provides means of measuring weather conditions and checking performance of a wind or solar system. Includes solar cell with +/- 8% accuracy. Optional higher accuracy cells, wind anemometer, and temperature sensors. Easy to connect via RS485 to Sunny WebBox or Sunny Control and from there data can be transferred to a PC or Sunny Portal for further analysis.

Sunny Portal

This is an easy way of presenting performance of your solar or wind system on the Internet. Can be used with Sunny WebBox or Sunny Control. Allows system operation to be viewed from any PC with internet access and allows automatic error and status messages to keep you informed.
