...solar trackers
Solar Trackers
They are particularly useful in high sunlight areas or for large solar pumping systems and give substantial benefits in summer (marginal in winter).
They are worthwhile when the cost of the tracker increases the array output for less than buying equivalent extra solar modules, especially when the greatest power demand occurs in summer.
For water pumping applications trackers offer a significant increase in the amount of water pumped and provide a smooth flow of water from dawn to dusk, allowing the pump to start earlier and continue later in the day. They can double the amount of water produced in summer, when it is typically needed the most.
Other advantages of a tracked array are allowing morning, afternoon and intermittent periods of bright sunlight to be captured. These trackers use an optical solid-state sensing system to keep a PV array precisely facing the sun. Sun sensors mounted on the controller monitor the differential amount of sunlight on opposing sensors. The controller then seeks to equalize the sunlight received by opposing sensors by moving the PV array. During cloudy conditions it moves to the horizontal position in order to maximise output from the diffuse sunlight conditions. At daybreak it automatically returns to the sunrise position.
Lorentz Solar Trackers
Single Axis Trackers
They use the PV modules themselves as light sensor to avoid unnecessary tracking movement and for reliability. At night the trackers take up a horizontal position. Powered directly from one of the PV modules (12 to 200 V) or for battery charging applications from an additional 10 Wp PV module.
Low power consumption of ~ 1.25 kWh per year.
Trackers (except the ETA-DIY) include: mounting pole; galvanised steel frames to fit all commercial solar panels without any drilling required; all hardware necessary for installation; control electronics; drive unit; installation instructions.

Deger Solar Trackers
Dual axis trackers
Dual axis trackers track the sun both East to West and North to South for added power output (approx 40% gain) and convenience. Trackers include: mounting pole; anodised aluminium frames to fit all commercial solar panels without any drilling required; all hardware necessary for installation; control electronics; drive units for azimuth & elevation axes; installation instructions. The DEG-300EL requires a 50-90mm diameter mounting pole (not included). All models are suitable for latitudes 25° to 90°.
Higher masts are available or alternatively trackers are available without masts. When ordering please state how many & what type of modules are to be used and what system voltage is (grid-connect or stand-alone)
Design windspeed of 160km/h (100mph). 2 year warranty.
| Model Number | Description | Mast Height | East/West Range | Elevation Range | Data Sheets |
| DEG-300EL | For up to 3 m² array | Not Included | 200º | 15-90º | DEG-300EL |
| DEG-5000NT | For up to 40 m² array | 3.3m | 360º | 10-90º |
DEG-5000NT & DEG-7000NT |
| DEG-7000NT | For up to 60 m² array | 3.3m | 360º | 10-90º |
SOL-Conector Control System
Uses less ~ 5Wh per day, negligible compared to potential increase in energy provided by tracking a PV array. It does not use any energy at night.
