...Proven wind turbines
Proven Wind Turbines
These powerful wind turbines, developed in Scotland, are built to withstand severe weather conditions and are a good size for stand alone domestic use, either for battery charging; for heating; or grid connection.
Their downwind design incorporates a unique three bladed self-regulating rotor coupled
to a three phase permanent magnet alternator. This give high output in strong
winds combined with good performance in low winds. Under high wind loading the
turbine blades simply turn and flex with the wind - limiting output, whilst
allowing continuing operation even during the fiercest storms.
Turbine and controller are protected in the event of accidental load disconnection.
The low rotor speed ensures extended durability of blades & bearings together with quiet operation. No gearbox.
Heavily built machines ensure long life. All components are hot-dipped galvanised steel, stainless steel or plastic. All bearings are triple sealed.
The 2.5kW & 6kW machines include a rotor safety disc brake operated from the tower base to allow the wind turbine to be stopped for maintenance.
Three types of system are possible for different applications using different voltage versions of the wind turbines.
| Battery Charging Systems | For properties off the grid or where an independent power supply is required. |
|---|---|
| Heating Systems | Where power is required for heating in windy weather. |
| Grid-Connect Systems | Allowing wind power to be used on normal properties to reduce electricity consumption. |

12, 24 or 48V battery charging
These battery charging machines, developed from the successful 2.5kW version and using the same blade technology are ideal for remote power supplies such as homes or telecommunications etc. The controller prevents battery overcharging and diverts surplus power into a 600W space heater (included). Meters are available separately. The ECM-601 version of the controller includes meters, an IP65 enclosure, adjustable low voltage relay and system status indicators.| Product Code | Description | |

The 24 & 48V machines use a battery for storage and can incorporate an inverter to supply 230Vac power. The controller monitors battery voltage and diverts surplus power into heaters. The 120V machine is used for heating only and the controller here matches the load (storage or immersion heaters etc.) to the wind conditions.
The standard 6.5m tower is a tubular tapered self-supporting structure (needing no guy wires) with hinged base plate for easy erection onto a reinforced concrete base. An 11m tower is also available.

Diversion Heating Loads
For use with battery charge controllers or in direct heating applications.DC & AC elements to suit different controllers.
Immersion elements have standard fitting.
Winches
Tirfor winches are available for use when raising or lowering towers or hired when required.T508 is needed for Proven 0.6 on 5.5m tower or Proven 2.5 on 6.5m tower;
T516 for Proven 2.5 on 11m;
T532 for Proven 6 on 9m & T532/30 for Proven 6 on 15m tower.
Proven Towers
Different tower heights are available to suit different site conditions.
The standard towers are tubular, tapered self-supporting structures made from
heavy duty galvanised steel. They need no guy wires and take up the
minimum of ground area. Includes hinged base plate and gin pole for easy
erection.
Requires a reinforced base. 1m x 1m x 1m for 5.5 & 6.5m towers;
2.5m x 2.5m x 1m for 9 & 11m towers;
3m x 3m x 1m for 15m tower.
Machined tower top adaptors are available for use with custom towers (un-galvanised upon request).
