We were also extremely proud to be honoured twice at the inaugural Solar Power Portal Awards which were made at a gala ceremony, held in conjunction with Solar Energy UK at the Hilton, NEC in Birmingham. In both cases these recognised our work with the Isle Of Eigg Electrification Scheme:
We were winner for:
The best integration of solar generation as part of a total energy solution
The finalists in this category demonstrated exceptional system design, creating integrated systems that significantly reduced customers’ energy bills as well as emissions.
For the judges our project was the “stand-out winner in this category”, with its use of energy storage for renewables and the integration of various technologies, they also felt it demonstrated exactly where we, the UK, need to go as an island too.
We were also ‘highly commended’ for:
Most innovative system design
Steve Wade, who received the award at the ceremony, said “We are thrilled to get these accolades, it’s fantastic to have our achievements recognised. We have been involved in this project for almost ten years now, from it’s inception through installation and on to development and support. It’s been a privilege to work on this and we are looking forward to taking the lessons learned onto the mainland”
The Solar Power Portal Awards were launched in 2013 to “focus on all areas of the solar industry in the UK, recognising and celebrating good practice, professionalism, quality, safety and innovation. Our aim is to highlight the brightest and best that UK solar has to offer.”
