SMA Sunny Island 4.4M-13
Designed for rough ambient conditions for stand alone or grid back up operation. Rated to give a power output of 4.4kW for 30 min.

The Sunny Island 6.0H / 8.0H supports a wide range of on-grid and off-grid applications
Powerful inverters with rated power outputs of 6kW or 8kW for 30 min. which can be stacked in clusters for higher power levels in both single phase and three phase networks and support a wide range of on-grid and off-grid applications. Systems up to 300kW are possible.

SMA MultiCluster Boxes for Sunny Island
Install large off-grid systems with minimum effort. The Multicluster-Boxes for the Sunny Island inverters are the ideal solution for the easy installation of island and hybrid systems from 30 up to 300 kW. They include integrated generator and load shedding contactors for AC distribution. For an example of Multi-cluster boxes in use see Isle of Eigg project.
The SI-MCBOX-12.3-20 also allows connection of the grid in addition to a generator for use in both off-grid systems and battery-backup systems.

SMA Battery Backup Distribution Switch Boxes
Automatic transfer switches, suitable for the SMA 'Flexible Storage System' which allow operation to continue in case of main power blackouts. Contactors ensure compliant earth switching.
Certified for TT- and TN-S grids
Can be used in combination with SMA – Sunny Island 4.4M/6.0H/8.0H.
Requires SMA Home Manager 2.0 (HM-20) - not included.
SI-BBD-2 is used with one Sunny Island on 1 phase and couples the 3 phases to be backed-up in the event of a power cut.

SMA Sunny Island Connection Units
Central connection units used to simplify off-grid installations with Sunny Island inverters. Provides everything needed in an IP54 GRP wall mounting enclosure with all cable glands to enable a straightforward and tidy installation.
Versions for
a) single phase systems using one Sunny Island and connections to suit up to 3 x 5kW Sunny Boy inverters or
b) three phase systems using one cluster of 3 Sunny Islands and connnections to suit either: up to 6 x SB-5.0-1AV-41 (two per phase); or up to 2 x STP-20000TL-30.

Sunny Island Battery/Inverter Breaker
Double pole circuit breakers. These protect the DC cables between batteries and inverters against overcurrent and short-circuit and allow easy isolation for installation or maintenance of the inverters.
Rated for maximum charge/discharge voltage of 75V DC and max. short-circuit current may of 10kA.
Versions for use either with one inverter or clusters of three.
VT (voltage tap) version includes two pole 8A fuses for connection of other equipment.

Frequency Controlled Switches
These are load control devices for off-grid power systems with renewable generation and generation sets or inverters which produce a variable frequency supply.
Used to switch on additional loads to take advantage of surplus renewable generation which cannot be stored. They respond to a rise in the system frequency caused by battery inverters signalling a high state of battery charge, or by low load on a generator with frequency droop.
Each switch will control one appliance and is wired into the cable supplying the appliance. They require no user intervention and will automatically switch the appliance on when the system frequency is high and switch it off when the frequency is low. The frequency setpoint can be adjusted during installation.
They incorporate a number of features to ensure stable operation of an islanded power system:
- Once the frequency goes above the switch-on setting there is a delay before the appliance is connected; the higher the frequency is above the setting, the shorter the delay.
- The switch-off setting is a lower frequency than the switch-on setting to ensure stability.
- Once the frequency goes below the switch-off setting there is a delay before the appliance is disconnected; the lower the frequency is beneath the setting, the shorter the delay.
Can control loads up to 13A (3kW at 230V; 1.5kW at 120V). The most appropriate loads are heaters (water heaters, storage heaters, space heaters). Appliances with pumps are not appropriate due to the potential for rapid switching of loads.
The FCS-F1-B version is faster acting with closer frequency settings to provide more certainty of the total load that will be applied at a given system frequency for larger power systems with multiple switches. Usually only used for example, for controlling large wind turbines in off-grid systems (available to special order only).
