Shurflo 9300 Submersible Pump
Shurflo LCB Pump Controllers
Lorentz Submersible Pumps
Introduction
These pumps are designed to provide water supplies in
isolated locations, with no long cables to bury or electricity bills to pay.
For most drilled wells the water level will be below the suction limit of any pump, so
the pump needs to be sited actually in the well itself. The best way to do this is with a
submersible pump lowered into the water and positioned between the yearly maximum and
minimum levels.
Using a conventional 230Vac submersible pump run from a large inverter is often the
simplest choice. However, such centrifugal pumps tend to be energy inefficient and high
power consumers. Low voltage submersible diaphragm pumps are available which are both low
powered and efficient.
For a remote home water pumping can be a significant
power requirement so it often desirable to set up a separate wind or solar pumping system
purely for this.
The PV panels or wind turbine can then be sited at the water source reducing wiring
problems, operating the pump directly during daylight hours or when windy with a water
tank used for storage. (Storing water is more efficient and economical than storing energy
in batteries). System costs can thus be minimised and extra demands on the main system and
battery bank avoided.
Linear Current Booster (LCB) controllers
are
useful on solar direct systems for matching the power produced by the array to that
required by the pump, so enabling the pump to run in lower light conditions.
Use of trackers to mount the panels will increase output by allowing the pump to start
operation earlier in the day and continue later.
Wind-electric pumping systems have
advantages over traditional mechanical driven wind pumps in that they need not be directly
sited at the water source, but can be at the optimum wind site. 24hr operating potential
gives high average daily flow rates.
Controllers are used to
maximise flow rates over all wind conditions.

Shurflo 9300 Submersible Pump
This efficient pump was designed to be solar powered. For use in wells ponds or streams
it can be run directly using one or two PV modules, a Rutland WG913 wind generator or from
a 12 or 24 volt battery.
Of strong yet lightweight (6lb) construction it is capable of pumping 0.5 to 1.85 GPM
from a 4" diameter well of up to 230' depth. It has a 1/2" barbed fitting for
outlet hose & a stainless steel screened inlet. Can be run dry.
Shurflo LCB Pump
Controllers
The Shurflo pump LCB Controller can be used with one or two PV modules or a 24 V
battery and includes high & low probes for turning the pump off if the well runs dry
(supplied with 75m probe cables); connections for reservoir float switches; weatherproof
enclosure & a pole mount bracket.
Includes on/off switch; short circuit & over temperature protection; adjustable
voltage (set @ 28 VDC); Reservoir Full, Dry Running & Correctly Wired LEDS.
The Shurflo LCB is more basic, without an enclosure and for use on 24 V two module PV
direct systems only.
