Roof Mounting

Mounting solar photovoltaic generators on the roof has the advantage that no additional ground area needs to be set aside or special stands constructed.  Often roofs have the correct tilt and orientation and are free of shadows making them the ideal supports for solar modules.

This is especially true for new buildings where the solar system can be taken into account from the very beginning and the roof sized, orientated and constructed optimally.

Above Roof Mounting

Usually, a PV system is installed above an existing roof.  This is normally done by mounting PV modules to an aluminium or galvanised steel framework lying a few centimetres above the roof.  Fixing to the roof structure is then made using special 'roof hooks' or mounting slates which give a secure fastening to the roof structure.

Sol-50

Sol-50 Roof Mounting System

SOL-50 Roof Mounting SystemThis is a universal fixing system specially developed for use with framed photovoltaic modules to give a safe & simple method of assembly with minimum installation time.

Rather than screwing into the mounting system modules are inserted and locked into the system using special aluminium profiles.

This avoids stress in the modules due to movements of the roof structure. In addition modules can be assembled on the roof without tools, offering considerable advantages in time and safety.

Using this system aluminium framed modules with a frame size of up to 50mm (eg. BP Solar Universal frame) can easily be assembled into an aesthetic structure above the roof surface.

Although an integrated appearance is achieved, best possible output is ensured because the system is mounted above the roof allowing sufficient ventilation.

A further advantage is that single modules can easily be exchanged without difficulty should this be necessary at a future date.

SOL-50 can be used with standard types of modules and is suitable for almost any type of roof structure: above-roof on tiles, slates, or corrugated metal; flat roof and roof canopy.

Sol-50 Above Roof Mounting System

SOL-50 above roof mounting systemThis system consists of a stable aluminium framework mounted onto a number of brackets (or roof hooks) fixed directly to the roof structure.

Vertical profile rails are fastened to these brackets and then carefully spaced horizontal sectioned profiles fastened to these with mounting screws.

The spacing is such that modules can then simply be lowered and located between the horizontal profiles. Assembly is fast and does not require any tools because modules simply slot into place. They are kept in place using only friction and gravity - no additional bolts or fixings are required. An anti-theft device is available as an optional extra.

For modules with frames of < 50mm two ‘block bridges’ are also required.

Profile lengths can be joined together using ‘profile links’. Aluminium profile screen facings and end-caps complete the system to give a very neat appearance.
